We are looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails developer who is aiming to make their first move into a Senior Developer role. Our friendly and fantastic team is based at our office in Crowborough, East Sussex, on the edge of the beautiful Ashdown Forest.

As a developer at Elysium you will be involved in projects of all shapes and sizes, from idea generation and design creation to implementation and maintaining the final concept, your opinions and contributions will be encouraged and valued.You will be come a key player in maintaining our high standards for customer deliverables.

You will challenge potential solutions to ensure that the product not only meets the specification but excels when further updates are made.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has more than 3 years commercial experience of Ruby on Rails development.
  • Is looking for their first senior developer role or has recently made this career move.
  • Values the work/life balance that can be provided by a small software development company.
  • Is confident in their opinions and able to represent them in group discussions.

We would be impressed by:

  • An understanding of Linux based servers.
  • Confidence discussing requirements with customers.
  • Awareness of ISO27001 and GDPR.

As part of the Elysium software development team, the Senior Developer role will be supported by:

  • A project team responsible for customer liaison, requirements capture and formal testing.
  • User experience team able to assist in user interface design and front end development.
  • Systems administration team responsible for operation and maintenance of server infrastructure.

We are looking for a Frontend Developer to join our growing East Sussex based team.

You will be involved in projects of all shapes and sizes, from idea generation and design creation to implementation and maintaining the final concept, your opinions and contributions will be encouraged and valued. You will become a key player in maintaining our high standards for customer deliverables.

Your role will include:

  • JavaScript development for our existing and upcoming projects.
  • Creating functional HTML and JavaScript prototypes of applications.
  • Creating reusable SASS based stylesheets.
  • Working with our designer to create responsive HTML templates.
  • Integrating templates into our clients applications.

Ideal applicants will have:

  • Strong HTML, CSS and Javascript (vanilla and jQuery based) skills.
  • Experience working with source control (SVN and Git).
  • Confidence in their communication skills both written and phone.
  • Experience using CSS frameworks to increase development speed and platform consistency (for example Bootstrap or Foundation).

Knowledge or experience of the following would be beneficial:

  • Interest in User Experience and User Interface design.
  • Angular or similar (React).
  • Content management systems (Wordpress).
  • Jekyll and Liquid.
  • Containerisation (Docker).
  • Automated testing (Selenium).

Location: Crowborough

As a Junior Project Manager you will have shared responsibility for key clients and will help manage their projects from inception to completion, creating structure and organisation internally for the team and externally for the client through project control mechanisms, such as timelines and risk documentation.

You will be a key decision maker in the project and will provide clear communication to the client to keep them up-to-date with solutions, project progress and budget.

Utilising the skills of the team around you, you will be able to gather the relevant information for a client in a timely manner and in turn, feedback information from the client to the key team members working on the project.

You will be confident with Microsoft Office and either have experience of using online planning tools and online support ticket systems or be confident in your skill to pick these up quickly and efficiently.

Experience within a project based role is desirable but transferable skills would be more than acceptable, especially if they come with a willingness to get stuck in. We will support you fully in your role, providing guidance and a fun and dynamic environment suitable to learn and develop within.

Ideal applicants will be:

  • An excellent communicator – both verbal and written, client facing.
  • Skilled using Microsoft Office.
  • Fantastic at time management.
  • Keen to learn.

Desirable:

  • Experience of online planning tools and online support ticket systems.
  • Good Analytical Skills.
  • Tech Savvy.
  • Confidence overseeing accounting, costing and billing at project level.
  • Ability to carry out risk assessments on projects.

Your Responsibilities:

(Depending on your experience these are responsibilities you will potentially work towards with the support of a Senior team member)

  • Project Initiation and agreeing project objectives with client.
  • Project Planning and agreeing budget/cost – internally and to the client.
  • Project Design and Build – ensuring client's objectives are reached.
  • Project QA/testing – Managing the QA role on project to ensure objectives met.
  • Project Monitoring and Control – timeline and budget control plus change control and managing, minimising and documenting risks.
  • Closure of a project – Analysis if required, billing and resolving project.

As a Junior Systems Administrator at Elysium you will be starting a career in one of the fastest moving, dynamic and essential parts of the Tech Industry and we will support and encourage every step of the way.

Your role will include:

  • Working alongside other team members to design and set up secure virtualised/cloud infrastructure.
  • Updating existing systems with latest software patches.
  • Deploying application updates requested by our team of developers.
  • Performing vulnerability scans across networks and assessing findings.
  • Monitoring systems and infrastructure.
  • Investigating and responding to support requests.

Ideal applicants will have:

  • Methodical and process driven work ethic.
  • Confident in their communication skills.
  • Motivation to develop their own skills in systems administration and learn from our senior members of staff.

Knowledge or experience in the following would be desirable but not essential:

  • Linux (CentOS, Fedora or Red Hat preferred).
  • Database administration (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL).
  • Networking.
  • Windows desktop/server support.
  • Hardware maintenance.
  • AWS or other cloud providers (Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Digital Ocean).
  • Python or Bash scripting.

As a Junior Developer you will be directly involved in the design, development and delivery of new features as well as the maintenance and improvement of our live applications.
